A craftsman and art maker in the outdoors, Dan Snow creates practical, landscape structures and playful, environmental artworks in dry stone that include commissions for private clients, museums and educational institutions in North America and Northern Europe. A life-long Vermonter, Dan has traveled widely for more than four decades producing site-specific installations. His handcrafted, hardscape sculptures lead the way in a growing movement toward nature-partnered art. He is the author of three books, In the Company of Stone: The Art of the Stone Wall (2001, Artisan Books); Listening to Stone (2008, Artisan Books); and The Solitary Stoneworker: Aggregations and Grumblings, 2017-1968 (2018, self-published). He was also the subject of a documentary film, Stone Rising: The Work of Dan Snow, by Camilla Rockwell (2008). DSWA and DSC Mastercraftsman certified, Snow also lectures and leads workshops. His studio and home are in Dummerston, Vermont.
